Villa Baha is 4,000 square feet of contemporary classic Mexican Casa-style living space nestled in the pristine rainforest of Costa Rica. Dramatic, white water views of the Pacific ocean and serene valley vistas are everywhere. Each evening at Villa Baha brings another stunning sunset.
Immediately upon entering the gated driveway of this 11-acre property, situated 300 meters above sea level in the primary rainforest, you know that you have arrived at a special place. The scent of ylang ylang and the sounds of nature welcome you to your home away from home. Colorful bougainvillea, helaconia and ginger and graceful palms, bananas, and bamboo sway in the breezes.
Built in 2000 and recently updated, the main house is entered though a gated courtyard garden. French doors open into the main level which is dominated by a dramatic, curved staircase leading to the upper floors. The first floor rooms flow in a convenient, contemporary manner. The living room is casually but elegantly furnished with comfortable seating for six. Great lighting and an entertainment armoire make this room suitable for reading, games or movie-viewing (TV with Satellite Direct TV and Stereo DVD/CD/MP3 and VCR).
Beyond the living room, are the kitchen and dining room, which share the inescapable view of the Pacific ocean. The large, well-considered kitchen is playfully decorated with colorful, hand-painted Mexican talavera tiles on the countertops and cooking island. The kitchen is equipped with all that you might require to prepare and serve anything from salsa and chips to a full holiday meal.
Just steps away, the dining room features an eclectic mix of contemporary, classic and antique furnishings, dramatic lighting and a soaring, 20-foot beamed ceiling. From the dining room, more French doors lead to the swimming pool and the rear veranda, the true focal point of living the good life at Villa Baha! From here you can enjoy the view from comfortable lounge chairs or while eating a casual meal. Colorful hammocks are just right for afternoon reading or siestas. It is possible to spend the entire day simply watching the peaceful and inspiring parade of wildlife from this veranda. And, if nature watching from this perspective is just too relaxing for you, around the corner and just off the kitchen, is another veranda equipped with a new, full-sized ping-pong table and a gas grill.
On the other side of the house, also on the first floor, is the very private and serene master suite furnished with a king-sized bed. A screened door allows nighttime breezes in and also gives private access to the rear veranda and pool area, perfect for late night swims under star-filled skies. The amazing, Spanish-style master bathroom features his and hers talavera sinks and an inviting sunken soaking tub and shower.
The entire second floor can serve as an additional master suite for a second couple. The bedroom contains a queen-sized bed, writing desk, and floor to ceiling closets. French doors lead to the private 2nd floor veranda and terrace with views of the surrounding mountain ridges and valleys, a quiet spot for morning coffee or evening drinks. The full bathroom features more Mexican tile and a charming rainforest mural painted by a local artist. The media den (with Satellite TV and VCR) has a daybed-style sofa with a trundle bed which easily converts to sleep two children. Two more children or adults can use the inflatable aero bed to sleep in the media room, living room, or even outdoors on a rooftop. Sliding doors provide access to another rooftop terrace with oceans views, ideal for private sunning. Stairs from this terrace lead to the upper roof terrace, for a true 360 degree, birds eye view of this glorious property and its surroundings.
The grounds also contain Villa Baha's casita, home of our English/Spanish-speaking property manager who will welcome you and assist you during your stay. Villa Baha is located in the safe and friendly, residential area of Lagunas de Baru, just outside of Dominical. Houses dot the finger ridges of Lagunas, giving a sense of community while still maintaining total privacy.
